Zebra announced the implementation of Navis SPARCS PrimeRoute for Tractor Trailers at Jebel Ali Terminal 1 in Dubai, and its contribution to the terminal’s reduction of overall fuel usage and carbon emissions.
PrimeRoute, a module included within the Navis SPARCS and SPARCS N4 terminal operating systems, enables real-time routing, dispatching and monitoring of internal transportation vehicles.
Jebel Ali Terminal 1 in the United Arab Emirates, while utilizing the PrimeRoute module, have been able to eliminate waste and decrease the total travel distance of tractors, and allowed for a greater improvement in laden versus un-laden trips.
By pooling terminal tractors across a wide array of work assignments, fewer tractors are required to do the same amount of work while still maintaining productivity and lowering both capital investments and variable costs such as labor, fuel and maintenance.
Additionally, it has also increased the number of cranes that a single dispatcher can effectively manage. As a result, the terminal has been able to reduce its tractor fleet while improving service levels to its customers.
