Xterprise Places Order for 4.5 Million RFID Tags for RTI Asset Management Application
Order Represents One of the RFID Industry’s Largest Single Tag Orders in 3 Years
DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Xterprise Incorporated, a leading global provider of RFID-enabled supply chain solutions, announced today it has placed an order for 4.5 million RFID tags to support its solution deployment for iGPS (www.igps.net). iGPS manages the largest North American pool of RFID-enabled reusable plastic shipping pallets. The 4.5 million RFID tag order is part of a comprehensive end-to-end software and hardware solution built on Xterprise’s Asset Management (XAM™) application to support iGPS’s rapidly growing pool of reusable plastic shipping pallets. RFID inlays and labels for this order will be supplied by Alien (www.alientechnology.com), Avery Dennison (www.averydennison.com) and Zebra (www.zebra.com). Xterprise developed and manages the complete lifecycle of RFID-enabled supply chain solutions for iGPS, from source tagging to network wide inventory management.
“This is one of the largest single RFID tag orders that the industry has seen in three years and we’re thrilled to have been selected by iGPS to deliver this mission critical solution for them,” said Dean Frew, founder and CEO of Xterprise. “The RFID tag is an integral part of iGPS’s data capture system. Selecting the right tag ensures accuracy and integrity of the inventory management system, which ultimately determines the resulting business value.”
Frew added that Xterprise is continuing to see the volumes of RFID consumables within its customers accelerate rapidly, providing more evidence that the market continues to grow. This 4.5 million tag order brings Xterprise’s projected annualized RFID tag shipments to be over 10 million tags in 2007.
“As the market grows, solutions providers like Xterprise will be the driving force behind large tag orders as well as for other products in RFID-enabled applications,” said Michael Liard, an RFID market analyst with ABI Research (www.abiresearch.com). “There currently is a major lack of recognition of the important role played by the solutions providers, however, it will change as more market demand is attributed to the efforts of solution providers who are market makers.”
Xterprise has selected the top global RFID technology partners for its RFID solutions. From Microsoft for its software technology platform on which Xterprise develops its innovative software applications, to RFID hardware and tag leaders like Alien, Avery Dennison, Motorola, Weber and Zebra that provide reliable core technology platforms.
“Together with our global partners we are developing and delivering solutions that combine process innovation, reliability and business value creation,” Frew said.
