Wincor Nixdorf and DigitalPersona Partner to Deliver Innovative POS Systems to Retail Industry
Wincor Nixdorf, one of the world’s leading providers of total IT solutions for the retail and banking industries, has formed a partnership with globally-recognized biometric authentication solutions provider DigitalPersona to set new standards for POS technology.
Through this alliance, Wincor Nixdorf and DigitalPersona are able to provide the most advanced POS solutions to their respective clients by incorporating DigitalPersona’s biometric fingerprint solution into Wincor Nixdorf’s TP.net POS software platform. With this integrated solution in place, retail employees can log in and out of each shift, sign on to casher’s stations and log into back office terminals by simply scanning their finger, eliminating the need for employee badges, sign-on cards, and all hardware associated with these items – significantly reducing expenditures throughout a retail chain.
The state-of-the-art technology also enables retailers to more accurately monitor employee behavior, decrease payroll fraud and maintain timekeeping integrity in their stores. By combining Wincor Nixdorf’s TP.net software with the proven accuracy and reliability of DigitalPersona’s authentication software and fingerprint reader solution, managers now can reliably determine which employees are involved with each POS transaction. Additional benefits to retailers incorporating this integrated solution include:
-Providing a more secure network by using fingerprint authentication rather than static numerical pass codes or key entry for various managerial tasks.
-Significantly increasing the speed of each transaction throughout a retail chain, ultimately delivering a strong ROI.
-Eliminating “buddy punching”
-Reducing shrink opportunities
-Improving overall profitability/return on investment
-Achieving regulatory compliance (PCI, SOX)
-Gaining credible evidence for lawsuits
Wincor Nixdorf’s TP.net software solution is an advanced, end-to-end platform that provides retailers with unprecedented control and visibility into every part of their store systems. By leveraging the built-in advantages of Microsoft® Corporation’s .NET technology, Wincor Nixdorf’s TP.net enables U.S. retailers to respond quickly to business requirements with unprecedented ease. At the store level, Wincor Nixdorf’s TP.net solution helps retailers meet operational challenges with a single product suite that provides seamless connectivity for multi-store management, customer loyalty, intelligent rules-based pricing and promotions, and advanced checkout concepts. TP.net centralizes the management of the entire customer shopping process with a hardware-independent approach to retail software.
DigitalPersona’s fingerprint readers incorporate superior optical fingerprint scanning technology, and the DigitalPersona® Fingerprint Recognition Engine has an unmatched ability to authenticate people rapidly and accurately.
“Partnering with a provider like DigitalPersona whose products and solutions are firmly entrenched in the United States is ideal for Wincor Nixdorf as we continue to aggressively expand our products and services throughout the U.S. retail marketplace,” said Tad Shepperd, vice president of Wincor Nixdorf’s U.S. Retail Group. “By combining our innovative TP.net solution with DigitalPersona’s biometric technology, we are offering our clients one of the most advanced POS platforms available, helping each of them minimize costs while maximizing daily output in the retail environment.”
“By adding fingerprint authentication to Wincor Nixdorf’s TP.net solution, retailers improve their profitability, gain greater accountability and simplify compliance efforts, “said Jim Fulton, vice president of marketing at DigitalPersona. “In addition, employees enjoy the ease and convenience of not having to carry keys or swipe cards.”
