When RFID and NFC meets shopping
The use of near field communication along with RFID tags on products could make waiting in long shopping lines a thing of the past.
Checkout could be a cinch with a NFC-based smart phone. Customers walk up to the NFC reader or check out device, have the RFID tags on the pruchased items read and then tap a phone which sends the payment, according to RCRwireless.com. Customer then walk out the door with fewer task to complete.
To make sure crooks don’t skate out the door without paying, the door can be locked if the RFID tags haven’t been deactivated.
