Visonic offers new reusable tag for tracking patients
Visonic Technologies, an RFID solutions provider for the health care industry, has released its enhanced Elpas Active RFID/RTLS Reusable Tag for tracking newborns in maternity wards and neonatal care departments.
The tag’s dual technology transmitter emits both UHF RF and infra-red (IR) messages that can be used to determine the location of the infant to room level and sub-room level precision in open and enclosed indoor spaces without EMF interference to hospital equipment, according to Visonic.
The Reusable Tag also incorporates a magnetic low frequency (LF) receiver that adds chokepoint area detection, so whenever an infant physically comes in close proximity to a prohibited exit or entrance a security an alarm is automatically trigger. As an additional security feature the tag automatically sends an alter to security personnel in case it is tampered with or removed from the authorized area.
The tags feature hospital-grade IP-67 waterproof outer casing and a new “low power” design that ensures more than three years of maintenance-free use, according to Visonic.
