Australian bank ANZ and Visa are launching a joint pilot of contactless payments using DeviceFidelity’s NFC-enabled iPhone case, according to Finextra.
The four week pilot will include 50 participants from the companies’ Sydney and Melbourne offices. DeviceFidelity’s case will be outfitted with a microSD memory card containing a pre-paid ANZ account that can be managed over the Internet. To use the solution, participants simply wave their iPhone in front of a reader to make contactless transactions of A$100 or less.
According to Finextra, there are already more than 20,000 outlets across Australia supporting contactless payments, including fast food restaurants, electronic stores, book stores, stadiums, clothing stores and vending machines.
