Virginia Tech extends emergency notification contract with Everbridge

Virginia Tech has renewed its three-year commitment to using Everbridge Aware to provide secure notification services for its VT Alerts system, an emergency communications program maintained by the University.
For the past three years, it has relied on Everbridge Aware to deliver voice and text notification to faculty, staff, and students.
After the events of April 16, 2007, when a lone gunman killed 32 people on the Blacksburg, Va. campus, Virginia Tech consolidated and expanded its emergency communication system to create VT Alerts.
“We’re committed to continuing to provide the best possible solutions to keep our students and staff safe,” said Larry Hincker, associate vice president of university relations. “Everbridge provides the speed we need to reach thousands of students and hundreds of staff quickly via phone and text communication.”
Everbridge’s notification platform is in use by several other colleges and universities as well as the state of Connecticut, Salesforce.com, Marathon Oil Corporation and the American Red Cross.
