In an effort to modernize taxis in South Africa, iMobilise Transportation Systems signed on VeriFone Holdings Inc. to provide digital payment technology and media solutions.

VeriFone technology will be installed in nearly 1,500 taxis. The systems will provide passengers with payment options including credit cards, Chip and PIN-based debit, and contactless. Deployment of the systems will begin in the spring in time for the World Cup.
