Verifone has announced that all of their future point of sale (POS) terminals will feature built-in support for NFC, according to NFC World.
One of the major hold ups in keeping NFC from widespread adoption has been a lack of support from retailers, who by and large are hesitant to shoulder the cost of implementing an NFC payments infrastructure on faith that the technology will take off as hoped.

Verifone is poised to be at the epicenter of the mobile payments revolution, says CEO Douglas Bergeron. Last month the company acquired rival POS terminal provider Hypercom for $485 million, resulting in a business expected to be worth $2 billion per year across the US and Europe. Earlier this week, the company reported first quarter revenues of $284 million, up from $223 million in the same quarter of 2010.
