USA Technologies and ASI Agree to $3.5 Million Intelligent Laundry Deal
Students to check laundry online with “e-Suds”
WAYNE, Pa., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ –USA Technologies (OTC Bulletin Board: USTT) and American Sales (ASI), Inc
announce an agreement to use USA Technologies’ e-Suds.net(TM) services to
network 9,000 university washers and dryers in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and
Ohio.
These Internet connected washers and dryers will be retrofitted with e-
Suds(TM) technology making it possible for college students to go online to
check if washers and dryers are available in their laundry room, charge the
cost of doing laundry to their university accounts, have detergent and fabric
softener automatically added to their wash and receive an email when their
wash is complete.
In a separate release today, IBM announced its involvement with USA
Technologies in developing, marketing and delivering the e-Suds service. IBM
will also host transaction data and backend reporting for the thousands of
networked machines already utilizing USA Technologies’ services in the
commercial laundry, vending, hospitality and digital imaging industries.
“Utilizing Internet technology in the commercial laundry industry will
change significantly how customers use the laundry facilities in the future
making it easier and more efficient,” explained David Goldenberg, President of
ASI. “This agreement with USA Technologies continues our commitment to
providing the very latest state-of-the-art technology and highest quality
products and services, which has enabled ASI to maintain our market leadership
position. The cutting edge e-Suds.net(TM) program brings a real value added
amenity to the College and University customer.”
“The kids love the program – they love using technology to make something
as bland as doing their laundry interesting and high-tech. I have had
wonderful feedback from anyone I’ve spoken to,” commented Linda Riley,
Associate Director of Operations and Financial Management at Boston College
when asked about the e-Suds program.
With USA Technologies’ e-Suds(TM) services students have access from any
PC to check if washers or dryers are available in their own dorm’s laundry.
Students will also have the ability to charge the cost of doing their laundry
to their student account by swiping their student ID or keying in a PIN. “Not
having to try to find quarters every week is the major benefit, because
searching under couch seats was getting pretty annoying,” explained a college
student who uses the e-Suds online laundry service.
“The response from the universities has been overwhelming. We believe
that the high-tech experience will increase student usage and satisfaction.
With e-Suds we developed a university offering that gives us a significant
competitive edge. We are confident that the addition of the e-Suds technology
to our exclusive programs will provide a competitive edge that will continue
our growth in the near term and well into the future,” said David Drake, Vice
President of Sales and Marketing for ASI.
“The momentum is building and we are experiencing unprecedented growth.
Over the years we stayed focus to develop a scalable technology platform,
which has enabled us to cross into several industries. We now have
successfully connected thousands of machines in the hospitality, vending,
unattended kiosk, commercial laundry and others industries that are soon to be
announced,” said Stephen P. Herbert, President and COO of USA Technologies.
