Finnish RFID provider UPM Raflatac has partnered with a Mexico-based RFID label maker, Digilogics, to develop RFID-based label solutions for the Mexican market. The strategic partnership will target process-intensive industries including retail, government services and supply chain management.
To help stir interest in RFID technology in Mexico, the partnership has sponsored the creation of an RFID “discovery center” in Mexico City. The center will demonstrate RFID applications designed to streamline inventory processes, including a smart fitting room, point-of-sale applications, and other RFID-based inventory and security systems. The applications showcased at the center, scheduled to open this week, were installed by the firm 5Stat.
As part of the effort to penetrate the Mexican market, UPM Raflatac and Digilogics have also joined with another Mexican firm, Productos Dorel, to build a state-of-the-art converting line for RFID tags in Mexico City.
