Unisys has laid out its predictions for the security technology marketplace in 2011, which includes the continued consumerization of IT.
Primarily, Unisys expects mobile device security to be a large driver of the changes. As these devices are used more for corporate logon there is a concern about their security.
Due to this, Unisys expects an increase in biometric security built into mobile devices in an effort to help increase security issues, but also to enable enterprises to require biometric authentication for network access.
Other drivers of the biometric marketplace include the transportation worker ID program, which requires those working in U.S. ports of entry to carry a biometric ID card. Further drivers of the general security technology marketplace laid out by Unisys include a predicted rise in business continuity planning for cyber attacks on companies and the introduction of GPS-based or location-based authentication.
