Turton School in Bromley Cross, UK are trying out a new cashless payment system in its dinner hall that allow students to pay for their meals by simply pressing their finger to a biometric pad, according to a Bolton news report.
The system hopes to removes problems associated with students who lose or have their lunch money stolen by classmates.
Upon scanning their finger, the system displays a photo of the student to confirm the purchase, and display the student’s remaining account balance.
Campus officials say lines will also move faster, as students spend less time searching for lunch money. And increase the uptake for free school meals among those who are entitled, rather than those who claim to have lost their lunch money.
