UK plans for multiple claims-based ID assurance services

As the British government moves more services online, the Cabinet Office is working with IT companies to create a solution for identity assurance, reports Computer Weekly.
This comes on the heels of the Cabinet Office’s May announcement to develop a market for private sector ID assurance services. In working with multiple solution providers, the government hopes to empower its citizens to choose the best identity assurance partner for their own needs.
The Cabinet Office plans to have a prototype of this system developed by October 2011, with full implementation coming in August 2012.
