Texas Instruments expands tag family
Texas Instruments Inc. has announced two additions to its Low Frequency RFID product family. The tags are designed for use in metal-heavy or industrial environments such as container tracking in waste management applications, vehicle identification and access control, oil refineries and other production environments.
The 12 mm Multi-Usage Wedge Transponder enables direct-on-metal mounting and features 208 bits of user-programmable memory and a password protected write capability allowing users to lock data updates to authorized parties only. The 24 mm Circular Inlay transponder is available with 80 bits of read/write memory or 64 bits of read only memory. It can be incorporated into a variety of materials and form factors and is ISO/IEC 11785 compliant.
Both transponders are compatible with TI’s HSX readers, and feature Half Duplex radio communication. Half Duplex radio communication is meant to simply communication between the reader and the transponder, enabling the reader to detect the transponder in the presence of interference from electromagnetic sources or other nearby transponders.
