The final decision to scrap the Tcard system proposed in Autralia was made by a cabinet subcommittee yesterday, although the Minister for Transport John Watkins, announced that there is still hope for e-ticketing to show up again. The Tcard was going to be a contactless card ticketing system for Sydney’s public transport network, but it has been endangered since last November, after failing to meet several deadlines. According to Mr. Watkins, the Tcard trial was not a success after starting 13 months late and just one-tenth of the original projected participants (106 actual participants instead of 1000).
