Tawainese Government to fund development of NFC Android applications
The Taiwanese Government is providing funding for a slew of new applications based on NFC technology and Google’s new Android smart phone, according to ITworld.
Contract electronics manufacturer Cheng Uei Precision Industry and Taiwan’s largest telecom company, Chunghwa Telecom, are developing the Android-based applications under a project called “the Android mobile device and Application Service Platform.”
The extent of the project and the amount of funding provided by the Government is undisclosed.
According to ITworld, Taiwan’s support of the Android has been strong over the past year, with Taiwanese companies, industry groups and government agencies promoting Android in a range of devices, including mini-laptops, navigation devices and mobile Internet devices (MIDs). Additionally, the publicly funded Institute for Information Industry maintains an office for Android development.
