Entrepreneur Aneace Haddad has launched a new service that lets users consolidate multiple customer loyalty accounts onto one contactless smart card, according to BBC News.
The service, called Taggo for “tap and go,” leverages the “fan” application on Facebook. Users must first take an ordinary contactless card with a unique ID number, such as a credit card or transport card, and register it online with Taggo. Then they can use their cards to sign up as a fan on the Facebook pages of retailers or restaurants to receive special offers and discounts, reports BBC News. To collect rewards, customers just tap their cards against a reader at the POS to confirm to the clerk their status as a Facebook fan.
Haddad says Taggo is currently undergoing “a soft launch” in Singapore where Facebook fan pages are particularly popular among businesses.
Haddad told BBC News that he hopes to take the service global in the future, and to expand it beyond Facebook if another Web giant like Google adds a similar “fan” feature for businesses.
