Integrated solution allows for real-time tracking and personnel management powered by Salamander Technologies.
Minneapolis, MN — January 30, 2008 — Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions, today announced that its technology will be used to issue secure ID credentials to Glendale, Arizona first responders in preparation for Super Bowl XLII.
According to Steve Benitez, vice president of sales for RockWest Technology Group, the Datacard authorized dealer deploying the system, “The combination of Datacard® ID systems and Salamander’s tracking application was the perfect solution for the Super Bowl. The Glendale Fire Department needed to know which responders are on scene, what their capabilities are, and where they’re posted at all times.”
“The value of this accountability and credential solution was immediately proven when we put it to use at the 37th Tostitos Fiesta Bowl,” said Assistant Fire Chief Tom Shannon, who is in charge of the department’s overall Super Bowl planning. “With more than 350 first responders already badged and another 150 set to be issued, we are well prepared for Super Bowl XLII.” Shannon went on to state, “Not only has the product met our expectations, but the customer service has been extraordinary.”
Datacard® CP80 card printers with IDCentre™ Silver identification software and Photo Pointe™ solution were used to create the credentials. The cards include a high resolution color photo and a bar code that stores the first responder’s vital information, including certifications and skill levels.
Using Salamander Technologies’ interTRAX™ emergency incident software, the bar code is scanned and tagged when assignments are given. This allows the Glendale Fire Department to manage the location and assignment of first responders within the 1.7 million square foot University of Phoenix Stadium.
“The Glendale First Responder project clearly demonstrates our interoperability with other applications. This gives users the flexibility to structure the perfect solution for the problem at hand,” said Fred Ketcho, regional vice president of Americas sales and service for Datacard Group.
