STMicroelectronics security smart cards recently received the highest security standard certification, the formal EAL6+ Common criteria certification for secure microcontrollers.
The company’s ST23YR80 secure dual microcontroller, including its optional crypto libraries is specifically designed for the government applications and now has demonstrated the highest protection rating among competitors in its class.
ST’s Identity cards the world’s first secure microcontroller to achieve EAL6+. The device can complete a protected passport transaction in less than 3 seconds using secure embedded software from Sagem Securite’s IDeal Pass. Additionally the ST23YR80 advertises a short wait time for travelers with increased productivity and security at border controls.
Additional features include enhanced crypto-processor NESCRYPT, high CPU clock frequency, dense on-chip memories, and enhanced contactless performances using ISO14443 type B interface. The software supports all e-passport norms, including Basic Access Control and Extended Access Control.
