The state of Utah may tweak its Baby Your Baby program to avoid complications with the Social Security Administration. Apparently the numbers are nine digits just like Social Security numbers and are causing confusion in the state.
The program is paid for by Medicare and provides benefits to expectant mothers by providing two months of doctor care, according to the Salt Lake City Tribune.
Opponents of the program are claiming that illegal immigrants are taking advantage of the programs lax policies. In order to receive care, mothers only need to claim citizenship and income, neither of which is confirmed.
Utah officials are contemplating changing the format of the numbers s they aren’t as similar to Social Security numbers.
