Sprint has set an April 22 launch date for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the network’s first NFC-enabled Android 4.0 smart phone with 4G LTE capability.
Priced at $199.99 with a two-year contract, Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus will come preloaded with Google Wallet, enabling it to make contactless mobile payments at more than 100,000 participating retailers nationwide. As an extra bonus, Sprint customers who activate a Google Wallet account within a week of getting their Galaxy Nexus will receive a $10 instant credit on their Wallet account and an additional $40 credit within three weeks, according to Sprint.
First introduced in the U.S. by Verizon for $299.99 (without Google Wallet), the Galaxy Nexus features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED contour display and dual cameras for video chat.
Thanks to its new Android 4.0 OS, the Nexus will also feature the biometric “Face Unlock” phone unlocking app and “Android Beam,” an NFC-enabled app that lets users share content by tapping their phones together.
The handset is now available for preorder on Sprint’s website.
