Music streaming service Spotify has updated its Android mobile app to enable music sharing via NFC, according to SlashGear.
Spotify app users with NFC-enabled phones running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich can now trade music over Android Beam by simply touching their handsets together.
According to SlashGear, the feature supports full album exchanges only; individual tracks can not be shared:
“Initially, we tried to exchange a specific track (between the GSIII on Android 4.0 and a Galaxy Nexus on Jelly Bean), with the music playing on one phone,” writes SlashGear’s Chris Davies. “Holding them back-to-back did bring up the regular Android Beam option, but nothing came through to the other device; however, when we did the same with an album, that listing subsequently popped up on the second phone.”
Spotify for Android is currently available as a free download from Google Play
