Snapper is introducing a new contactless payment card designed especially for Auckland’s forthcoming integrated ticketing system, according to Stuff.co.nz.
Snapper’s new card, co-branded with Auckland Transport, will conform to the New Zealand Transit Agency’s new national standards for public transport payment cards and readers.
The original Snapper, first introduced in Wellington, can be used in 1,000 Auckland taxis and in more than 100 shops in the city. However, only the new Snapper cards will be able to work on Auckland’s public transport, says Stuff.
Snapper, which is holding a launch even today in Auckland, hopes to have 1500 Auckland retailers on board by the end of the year.
