Smarter Security Systems (SSS), a provider of physical access control and other security systems, has announced the availability of their new biometric reader. The reader, called FastScan Vascular Reader (VR), touts the same high accuracy as other vascular authentication devices available, but also operates at a rate of .4 seconds per authentication.

The FastScan VR was designed primarily for commercial or government physical access control and has been approved by the Transportation Security Administration for use in the port of entry protection program, the Transportation Worker Identification Credential program. Further, the reader is able to operate in low light and with poor or dirty samples and was designed to be able to be integrated with other SSS products.
