Mumbai’s Western Railway (WR) is now accepting contactless payment via “Mumbai Go” smart cards, according to dnaindia.com.
Mumbai Go cards are already accepted on Mumbai’s Central Railway and the BEST, with the Western Railway being the last piece of the puzzle.
According to WR General Manager RN Verma, passengers will have to present the cards at the start and finish of the journey to ticket checkers with handheld readers.
The fare will be deducted from the card’s e-purse at the end of the journey. Commuters must pay a one-time fee of Rs35 to receive the cards, after which they may add money onto the card up to Rs5,000.
