New Smart Card Add-On Makes it Easier for Healthcare Organizations to Secure Access to Shared Workstations and Protect Patient Data
NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ – Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today demonstrated its new SecureSC add-on for healthcare organizations looking to secure access to shared workstations while protecting patient data at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference.
Wyse SecureSC add-on integrates with Citrix Password Manager(TM) and .NET smart card technology from Gemalto into the company’s Microsoft Windows XPe thin clients, allowing healthcare workers to swiftly and securely access vital information without compromising on security. The add-on provides users with a secure single sign-on system for Microsoft Windows, Web-based and hosted applications while supporting the most popular ISO 7816 Class A and AB smart card standards. The new smart card add-on will be commercially available through Wyse channel partners in Q2 of 2007.
By combining Wyse thin clients with Citrix Password Manager(TM) and its Hot Desktop feature, healthcare organizations can safeguard shared workstations environments from security risks while streamlining information access utilizing authentication and audit controls. In addition, the new security add-on works with Citrix SmoothRoaming(TM) technology which further enhances productivity by allowing users’ sessions to move with them from one workstation to the next.

With Wyse SecureSC the whole process of logging on, logging out, managing password changes is easily controlled. Healthcare professionals simply swipe their smart card, type in a PIN, and they’ll be up and running in seconds. Wyse Technology also supports integrated, keyboard and standalone smart card readers across its product line providing customers with even more flexibility.
