M1 has joined StarHub and Singtel as the third mobile operator in Singapore to offer SIM-based NFC mobile services.
M1’s two million subscribers can now use their NFC handsets equipped with M1’s NFC-enabled SIM cards to make contactless payments at any MasterCard PayPass or EZ-Link payment point in Singapore.
M1 customers have the option of downloading two NFC services: the “M1 NFC Prepaid MasterCard” which can be used at PayPass points of sale and the “EZ-link CEPAS” which works with EZ-Link points of sale. Both services, as well as a variety of compatible handsets, including the Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy S Advance and the Sony Xperia S, are now available at all M1 stores in Singapore.
M1 has also released a Mobile Wallet application that enables customers to obtain information on available NFC services and manage their NFC account and settings – e.g. default cards, initiating payments, transaction history and password control.
According to M1, future NFC services will allow customers to receive interactive promotional content from NFC-enabled posters, earn loyalty points and redeem merchant coupons.
