Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd, one of the world’s largest sugar producers, is the latest to implement the RFID vehicle management system offered by Mumbai-headquartered Essen RFID.
The global agribusiness has many sugar mills at various locations in India, each having a continuous flow of vehicles every day during the harvest season, of farmers carrying fresh sugarcane for crushing in the mill.
The previous system required a manual entry log, which kept a daily record of trips and transactions. Due to the heavy volume of traffic, this method was both time consuming and inefficient, resulting in higher processing times, longer queue times, over payment and delays.
Using Essen RFID’s Xtenna antenna reader, Renuka Sugars is able to track incoming vehicles – which have Metallica tags affixed on them – and automatically record the entry and exit of each vehicle with its trailers and accordingly generate receipts.
Additional benefits include quick turnover of vehicles, accurate and automatic generation of receipts, reduction in scope for human error, finding records for effective payment distribution and ease of maintenance.
