In an effort to provide its customers with more secure and faster access to its resources, Sharp Healthcare, a San Diego-based health care provider consisting of 1,800 licensed beds and 2,500 physicians, has been looking towards biometrics, according to a Source Security article. Biometrics enabled Sharp to access records with single sign-on capabilities and use context management.
To achieve these results, Sharp utilizes Vergence technology from Sentillion which enables the BioLogon fingerprint biometric authentication readers and software from biometrics developer Identix. The BioLogon systems are connected to Sharp’s PCs, thin clients and mobile carts and require biometric authentication for access to any patient files.
As a result of the improvements, Sharp has reported faster and easier access to resources, improved work flow and better patient care.
