Securing Federal Identity event features best of government ID and security
22 May, 2017
category: Digital ID, Government, Smart Cards
On June 6, the Securing Federal Identity conference will be held in Washington DC. The single day event has a stacked agenda of important topics presented by key leaders in government ID and security. The overriding theme this year seems to be the migration of federal identity solutions to mobile environments.
Whether using derived credentials or organic approaches, identity is going mobile and the federal enterprise is leading the way. No longer is it all about issuing CAC and PIV cards and hoping smart card readers reach the masses. This year, attendees will hear how mobile identity is really taking hold. It is a massive shift.
During the 16 years that the event has been held, both the show and the show’s organizer have paralleled this shift. Previously, the event was called Smart Cards in Government, but the name evolved to showcase the focus on identity regardless of form factor. So too, the event’s organizer changed names early this year from the Smart Card Alliance to the Secure Technology Alliance for similar evolutionary reasons.
