SCM Microsystems has added an external fingerprint reader to its CHIPDRIVE Smartcard Office product, replacing passwords or a PIN with the more secure biometrics technology.

The new biometric version is even more secure, even more versatile and even easier – in short: CHIPDRIVE Smartcard Office 2.5 Biometric is the only solution required to manage passwords and ID.
Combining both hardware and software to support sensitive applications, CHIPDRIVE Smartcard Office 2.5 Biometric stands out from pure software-based PC and network security solutions. The solution uses a secure fingerprint reader rather than a PIN code to safeguard access to PCs and networks. The user’s fingerprint, which can serve as master key or master password, will be matched with the previously stored biometric profile and allow access only after positive authentication.
