S2’s Groundbreaking Security Network Appliance Integrates with Leading Access Control and Camera Technology
WELLESLEY, Mass., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ – S2 Security Corporation (S2),
developers of the industry’s first network appliance that fully integrates a
range of physical security applications, today announced that its debut
product will support HID Corporation’s (HID) Proximity, Wiegand and iCLASS
access control cards and readers; and Panasonic Security Systems’ (Panasonic)
Network Security Camera line. By supporting technology from industry leaders
such as HID and Panasonic, S2 is ensuring that its distribution channel and
customer base has access to the highest quality end-to-end product.
S2’s first-of-its-kind physical security network appliance integrates
access control, alarm monitoring, temperature monitoring, video and intercom
in a single Web-browser delivered interface. Users can access this “security
management system in a box” from anywhere on the local or extended IP network.
The network architecture and solid-state hardware employed by S2 are a potent
technology combination that will dramatically lower the cost to purchase,
install, and operate an integrated security management system. Middle market
users will appreciate both the product’s extensive range of physical security
capabilities and the overall value it delivers. Larger organizations will be
able to deploy multiple network appliances to create scaled command and
control systems that administer a wide-area-network of facilities.
“S2 is setting a new benchmark in the industry’s migration to networked
security systems with the introduction of the first fully integrated security
network appliance,” said Denis Hebert, president, HID Corporation. “HID is a
strong supporter of open architecture systems, and S2 is breaking new ground
in this area with its innovative Web-enabled management of physical security
technology over existing IP networks. Their comprehensive network appliance
architecture demonstrates this, as does their support for industry leading
products such as those from HID.”
HID, a division of ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology Group (ITG) is the
largest manufacturer of contactless access control readers and cards for the
security industry. HID’s Proximity and Wiegand cards and readers provide
access control. In addition, its iCLASS(TM) line of 13.56 MHz read/write
contactless smart cards and readers deliver encrypted access control,
biometric verification, cashless vending and other advanced applications.
“By combining the proven expertise of companies like S2 with Panasonic’s
core expertise in networking and digital video technology, we can collectively
deliver the best networking solutions for the industry,” said Frank Abram,
vice president, Panasonic Security Systems. “Panasonic Security Systems has
been driving the industry’s migration to a digital networked platform with
innovative camera and IP systems products, while working closely with several
leading companies in the security and IT markets to assure the highest levels
of compatibility and integration.”
Panasonic is the leader in digital video technology. Panasonic’s Network
Security Camera line including the WV-NM100, WV-NS324, WV-NP472 models, offers
various degrees of PTZ digital video functionality that is delivered over an
IP network. S2’s network appliance directs the Panasonic cameras’ actions in
order to record access and alarm events, as well as to direct viewing for live
monitoring.
“HID’s access control technology and Panasonic’s network security cameras
are ideal best-of-breed complements to our compact, plug-and-play security
network appliance,” said John Moss, CEO and co-founder, S2 Security
Corporation. “S2 understands that supporting security technology leaders like
HID and Panasonic is vital to our customers, and the success of our dealers
and distributors. We are committed to providing our customers and our channel
with access to competitively priced, high-quality security systems that
enhance our first-of-its-kind product.”
