Password manager RoboForm securely stores passwords and logs into websites with one click. Now, users can choose to receive a password via text message to verify trusted desktop, laptop and mobile devices for repeat use.
RoboForm Everywhere – for Windows, Mac and mobile – enables subscribers to opt-in to multifactor authentication protection, enabling them to verify their personal laptops and other devices before accessing their RoboForm information.
“With the new option, users will be prompted to enter a one time password sent via text message when they run RoboForm on a new device for the first time. This registers the device,” says Simon Davis, digital marketing director for RoboForm. “We already offer multifactor authentication that sends the one time password via email. For many users, receiving a text message is preferable. For example, they may not know their email password off hand because they use RoboForm to store it.”
The password manager, a product of Siber Systems Inc., works by generating strong unique passwords for each individual site. Users only have to remember one master password. User data is encrypted with military grade security and can’t be accessed by the company. RoboForm Everywhere syncs and backs up passwords across all devices via the cloud. RoboForm also enables users to fill a form with one click during online checkouts and job applications.
“RoboForm Everywhere has never had a security breach, however we also give users and companies the option to license our software and store their encrypted data on their own hardware,” Davis says.
RoboForm was launched in 1999. Users can choose which version fits them best. It’s available for all major web browsers on Windows and Mac and with free apps on iOS and Android for tablets and smartphones.
