RISE Consortium hosts international conference
12 November, 2009
category: Biometrics
The European Union (EU) group Rising pan-European and International Awareness on Biometrics and Security Ethics (RISE), a group dedicated to creating and monitoring international ethics and policy issues related to biometric technologies, is organizing their third conference on international biometrics. The previous two conferences were held in 2005 and 2006 in Brussels and Washington respectively. The new one, planned for early January 2010, is to take place in Hong Kong to better identify issues specifically pertaining to Asian markets.
Much of the reasoning behind RISE’s seeing Asia as a very important venue for the future of the biometric market has to do with forecasts that expect a majority of the world’s population living in the continent. Subsequently, it is also expected to become an epicenter for the world’s technology development and implementation. Other major issues and trends facing the biometric market expected to be covered at the conference include data security and personal privacy issues.
