Raiffeisen Banking Group Austria (RBG) has announced that it will introduce contactless credit cards in Austria.
Starting in August, RBG will begin issuing MasterCard PayPass-enabled contactless cards, which can be used to tap and pay at contactless terminals throughout the country – no PIN or signature required.
According to RGB, the technology has already been successfully piloted at selected SV Group locations using hobex payment systems terminals.
RGB says it will work to expand the network of contactless acceptance points in the coming months.
With more than 2,200 branches, RGB is Austria’s largest banking group, representing approximately a quarter of the country’s entire domestic banking market.
