RFID gets patients out the door quicker, Singapore
Singapore General Hospital will soon streamline its pharmacy with the new implementation of an RFID-enabled outpatient drug delivery system, reports to The Strait Times.
Prescription drugs will be put together by a combination of manual and automated packers and then placed into baskets equipped with RFID tags. These RFID tags will monitor the location of the medication as it moves from assembly to pharmacy, thus reducing the number of errors and shortening the wait time for patients.
The hospital teamed with EurekaPlus, Innotech Resources and PSB Technologies to design, develop and install the system, expected ready at the end of next year.
