Canadian consulting firm RFID ProSolutions has teamed with Chicago-based RFID manufacturer RFID Solutions to create a multi-platform authentication program for the Canadian market. The technology platform, Trusted eSentry Security (TES), combines facial recognition, RFID and other options to create a security product aimed at the aerospace, drug manufacturing and finance industries.
The standard version of TES, which features technology from RFID Solutions and the marketing expertise of RFID ProSolutions, uses a system requiring facial recognition scans combined with an encoded RFID-enabled card or badge. RFID Solutions founder Harold Clampitt touts these security measures as the most secure, as they do not require physical contacts which can be duplicated, such as fingerprints or codes. As an additional plus for some industries, the lack of contact makes it easier for employees to avoid inadvertent damage to the system.
The platform also enables other options like fingerprint, iris and voice identification plus a PIN pad, due to customer demand.
TES is targeted primarily at businesses that need to manage highly-sensitive information. Research and development labs in the aerospace and pharmaceutical industries are an ideal customer, as well as financial services, where multiple level of security are needed but it is not cost-effective to staff security guards.
