RFID Acquisition of The Day: Identec gets Baumer

In a move intended to boost its industrial RFID presence, Austrian global RFID-tracking equipment supplier Identec Solutions today announced the acquisition of Baumer Ident GmbH, a global manufacturer of industrial Auto-ID systems (focused on the automobile sector).
Baumer Ident is a full subsidiary of Baumer Holding AG in Frauenfeld, Switzerland.
As part of the acquisition, Baumer Ident’s products will be integrated into Identec Solutions’ product portfolio and will continue to be marketed. As of August 1, 2006, the company in Weinheim will operate as Identic Solutions Deutschland GmbH.
