Pune pensioners to get smart cards for health care

Beginning next month, pensioners in Pune, India will be issued smart cards to receive medical benefits from the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), according to indianexpress.com.
The cards will contain the medical history of the patients, a record of monthly prescriptions and a photo ID.
For the first phase of the rollout, the government will issue 84,999 of the cards to CGHS employees and new pensioners enrolled for the program.
Participants will be able to receive benefits from anywhere in the country. The smart card can be used by any member of the family.
