ProximaRF, a subsidiary of Tranzbyte Corporation, is working on the development of an RFID reader that could successfully track shipments of legally grown and distributed marijuana from the time the product is harvested to the time it is delivered to retailers.
ProximaRF has a versatile portfolio of RFID readers, sensor tags and data logging products based on the ISO 15693 standard of high frequency (13.56Mhz) RFID.
In the United States, medical cannabis is currently lawful in 19 states including California, Connecticut and Massachusetts. In similar news, this past election year voters in Washington and Colorado passed ballot initiatives to legalize marijuana for recreational use.
Once completed, the ProximaRF believes RFID tracking for legal marijuana shipments could be a significant enhancement for both retailers and law enforcement nationwide.
