Visa and DeviceFidelity let slip plans to make an NFC-enabled case for the iPhone, according The Register and NFC World.
The case, whose announcement came about via a premature press release, will come equipped with NFC hardware and a secure element from DeviceFidelity to allow users to make contactless payments with their 3G or 3GS iPhones at Visa PayWave points of sale.
According to the Register, this NFC-enabled case would offer an advantage over microSD NFC chips since the latter’s signal tends to be weakened due to it being situated between the phone’s battery and the motherboard.
