PhoneFactor Inc. announced integration of its out-of-band two-factor authentication technology with Password Manager Pro software from ManageEngine, makers of a suite of cost effective network, systems, security and applications management software solutions.
ManageEngine Password Manager Pro is a privileged password management application that creates a secure vault for storing and managing shared sensitive information, such as passwords, documents and the digital identities of enterprises.
PhoneFactor strengthens Password Manager Pro by adding another option for a second factor of authentication, securing user access to the sensitive information stored in the ManageEngine application. Built-in support for PhoneFactor enables seamless implementation using the PhoneFactor Agent or Web SDK.
By leveraging something every user already has – a phone – to authenticate user logins, PhoneFactor is simple for end users and IT departments. A user simply logs in remotely with a username and password. Instantly, his phone rings. He answers, presses # (or enters an optional PIN), and is immediately granted access. PhoneFactor also offers two-factor authentication by text message and a voice biometric option.
There are no devices to purchase, provision, and ship to end users. If a user loses or breaks his phone, he will replace it himself. As a result, ongoing maintenance is minimal, and PhoneFactor is easy and economical to implement and support. Additionally, PhoneFactor’s out-of-band solution affords a level of protection that security tokens don’t provide.
