Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC) announced results from its Smart Band RFID Wristband System at the RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest, which took place in Ottawa, Canada from July 4 through July 15.
At the Bluesfest, the wristband system prevented counterfeiting and unauthorized resale, while allowing guests to link to Facebook, further promoting the event. Some 300,000 guests reportedly wore PDC Smart Band wristbands throughout the multi-day festival, which provided them automatic validation as they walked through RFID-enabled portals.
The system reduced the time guests spent waiting in line, which enabled guests to focus their time on performances and concessions. Smart Band also helped reduce the amount of labor, as multiple attendants were not needed to manually issue or validate tickets, stamps, or badges.
In addition to the system’s time saving conveniences, Smart Band provided security and anti-counterfeit measures, which facilitated crowd control at the gates and decreased unauthorized resale. If wristbands went missing, officials easily deactivated them and flagged them as stolen to prevent unauthorized access to the venue.
