Hi-G-Tek, an RFID developer specializing in sensing and control solutions for tracking high-value cargo and sensitive materials, has partnered with Emco Wheaton, a maker of products for the safe handling of hazardous fluids. The partnership plans to create wireless RFID sealed delivery solutions for liquid petroleum and fuel-oil road tankers.
The first product produced by the partnership is Emco-Wheaton’s new wireless Sealed Cargo System (SCS) using Hi-G-Tek’s technology. The SCS monitors individual compartment valves and manhole covers, giving users real-time tracking capability throughout shipment. The system features immediate event alerts, GPS tracking, fleet management and back-office interface and simple installation on tankers already in service.
Emco-Wheaton expects the partnership to produce further products this year to enhance the range of the company’s sealed parcel delivery systems. This type of security product has become increasing important in the fuel industry as energy costs rise.
