Amsterdam-based SMARTRAC N.V. has partnered with American-based ClikGenie and its partner FineLine Technologies to create CLIKSecure, a mobile app for NFC-enabled product authentication.
The app comes with dual functionality for in-store product merchandising and product authentication. It works with a variety of ICs and NFC inlays. The inlays can attach directly to the product, or they can be customized on a separate label to go with a brand owner’s graphics.
Consumers can then use NFC-enabled phones to obtain information about the brand. If a user’s phone also has the CLIKSecure app, the app can confirm the product’s authenticity. The app will register the UID of the chip and the phone’s serial number (SRN) for security, which allows brand inspectors to access detailed information and detect fraudulent products within the supply chain.
ClikGenie uses the most current NXP NTAG and ICODE chip technologies. It integrates with a mobile services platform for customizable product authentication solutions. Retailers can also use ClikGenie to enable advertising for national brands within the store on the fly.
The app works on NFC-enabled smartphones with Android Gingerbread (v.2.3.3) or later.
The NXP stand will demonstrate the app for wine authentication at this week’s Global Secure Summit in Istanbul, Turkey.
