Partnership develops national mobile payment solution
Payment processor Heartland Payment Systems and mobile payment network LevelUp have formed a partnership to create a national mobile payment solution.
After piloting its program in New York City, Boston, Louisville, Minneapolis and Madison, Wis., the partnership is now conducting a full-scale rollout of the system. LevelUp’s footprint will expand nationally more quickly with help from Heartland’s sales force bringing the system to more than 250,000 merchant locations across the country. Currently, LevelUp has one million users and 5,000 merchants on its network.
LevelUp will also use Heartland’s authorization and settlement network, which can handle 3,000 transactions a second. Average response time for a LevelUp transaction backed by MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover will be less than one second.
The partners are offering merchants discounts for accepting LevelUp by absorbing 25% of the development cost of a white-labeled iPhone and Android app. This offer is good for merchants with 10 or more locations that switch to Heartland for processing or extend their existing Heartland relationship.
Additionally, LevelUp’s technology is now integrated into Heartland’s E3 end-to-end encryption terminal/POS.
