Panasonic Corporation has unveiled a new mobile app for the Japanese market that enables users to remotely operate and monitor their Panasonic smart home appliances via Android smart phone.
Slated for launch in September, the Panasonic Smart App operates with connected appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, kitchen appliances and even health care devices. Those with NFC-enabled smart phones can interact with these devices in a number of different ways. For example, the user can tap their NFC handset against a smart refrigerator to search for recipes, or tap their air conditioning unit to monitor their energy expenditures.
Smart App users can even operate certain appliances, like the smart air conditioner, over the Internet from virtually any location.
Other cloud-based features allow smart health appliance owners to create graphs tracking their weight and calories consumed, or report device malfunctions to Panasonic’s customer service center.
According to Panasonic, the app will be available free of charge from the Club Panasonic website. To use the service, customers need to register as a user of Panasonic smart appliances and download the app.
