Pa. health system deploys RTLS for improved work flow and patient care
Butler Health System, Pa. has partnered with Intelligent InSites to improve operational workflow and patient care by implementing the InSites Enterprise Visibility Platform, the Ekahau real-time location system and the Vocera communication system.
The newly deployed platform collects location data of both patients and equipment, as they move throughout the hospital, utilizing Wi-Fi-based location tags powered by Ekahau. Patients’ families and friends are able to receive automated and customized message updates regarding progress. The system allows Butler Memorial Hospital to obtain reports on equipment levels to ensure necessary resources are made available to patients and staff, also optimizing purchasing and rental processes.
Utilizing the real-time location information from Ekahau, the InSites Platform automatically track and trigger patient care milestone updates allowing staff to be more efficient and the hospital to streamline their operations.
In addition, the InSites automatically monitor and log compliance of temperature monitored devices, such as refrigerators or warming blankets. The automated reporting capabilities mean more time nurses can spend with patients instead of conducting manual and time consuming temperature checks.
