On Track Innovations (OTI) has announced that it will provide its COPNI mobile payment solution for Turkcell’s new NFC payments program, “Turkcell Cep-T Cüzdan.”
Turkcell, Turkey’s largest mobile network operator, has already begun rolling out the new program, which will allow Cep-T Cüzdan subscribers to conduct contactless payments using Turkcell’s own branded T10 handset. OTI’s COPNI (Contactless Payment and NFC Insert) will be loaded onto each T10 phone to enable NFC functionality.
In addition to payment applications, other applications such as transportation, ticketing or loyalty will be available to Cep-T Cüzdan subscribers by the end of the year.
According to OTI, COPNI-enabled mobile phones allow mobile network operators to provide a true after-market solution to existing subscribers, filling the gap between the demand and lack of handsets with embedded NFC. Simply tapped near a contactless reader, a COPNI-enabled phone can be used in a broad range of payment transactions, including prepaid, credit and debit, as well as loyalty programs and other NFC related applications.
